Book Review: For Such a Time

For Such a Timeby Kate Breslin is a World War II retelling of the biblical story of Esther.  This fictional story of Hadassah Benjamin's plight in a transit camp in Czechoslovakia is an amazing angle with which to look at Esther.  When I read the scripture from the book of Esther that began each chapter, I couldn't imagine how that could play out in the story of Hadassah.  Hadassah struggles with feelings of hopelessness, betrayal, and despair as she unwittingly plays a hand in sending her fellow Jews to the death camp at Auschwitz.  It was lovely to spend my time reading a novel that also made me want to read my Bible and learn more about Esther.  Loved this book.

This book was sent to me for free in exchange for my honest review.
